Albums - Legislative Day, 2009
On the morning of April 16th, dressed to the nines in their best red suits, members of the Dallas County Council of Republican Women boarded a bus bound for Austin to participate in TFRW Legislative Day. After receiving recognition in both the House and Senate galleries, these activists participated in the legislative process with visits to the offices of our elected officials. The Texas Federation of Republican Women hosted a luncheon for over 800 members who were addressed by Governor Rick Perry and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Congratulations to the following Dallas County clubs and club members who received awards at the luncheon in connection with Lt. Gov. David
Dewhurst's General Election Competition Awards for volunteer
campaign hours:
  • David Dewhurst Award, Small Club category:  Richardson RW
  • Small Club with most campaign hours:  Dallas Star RW (First Place)
  • Candidate with most campaign hours: Cindy Werner (First Place)
  • Associate Member with most campaign hours: Paul Hoffman (Garland RW)
Following the luncheon, the women of DCCRW congregated in a private meeting room where they were addressed by Comptroller Susan Combs, Texas Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones, Senator John Carona, and Representative Dan Branch. The attendees were afforded a unique opportunity to personally address concerns regarding current legislation in a small private setting. Thank you to all who attended Legislative Day and made your voices heard in the halls of our State Capitol.

Thank you to all DCCRW women who worked tirelessly to make this day possible, and to our special sponsors who enabled us to have a great excursion and day in Austin:
Senator John Carona
Representative Will Hartnett
Representative Jim Jackson
Representative Dan Branch
Representative Linda Harper-Brown
Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield
Commissioner Maurine Dickey
